FRANCISCO X. ALEMAN GENERAL MANAGER AT URBANIS
Part of Grupo Romero, Urbanis is an important real estate company with many years experience in the construction sector, and will be managing the Villa España part of the project. “The new administrations, and particularly the one led by Jaime Nebot, have shown an interesting new way to build infrastructure and housing that makes them attractive to invest in and also build links with the private sector. This has changed the way of doing things in Guayaquil; we realized we could change things for ourselves with some strong leadership. The change in the mentality of the ‘Guayaquileño’ has created many more small and medium-sized companies and more initiatives. As a result we now have a much more ordered, stable and progressive society,” explains Francisco X. Alemán, General Manager at Urbanis.

With the exception of 2009 when there was an economic crisis, the growth in Ecuador has been sustainable due to two factors: the investment that the government has made in infrastructure and the availability of credit, according to Alemán. “The private company in Guayaquil has traditionally been an innovative and entrepreneurial one. The main big private concerns start in Guayaquil in sectors like agro-industry, hostelry or telecommunications. By nature, the Guayaquil businessman is an entrepreneur, it is in his blood,” concludes Alemán.
