What have been the main lessons you have learned in your career and how do you implement them in your management?
A leader can’t do anything by themselves. The main role of the leader is to vitalize the organization by motivating the people who are involved in it. Support for independent thought and implementation that leads to good results becomes motivation for the organization. It’s based on a trusting relationship with the organization members.
I reduced in-process inventory by half in a short period of time in production sites where performance was sluggish due to chronic non-achievement of production plans. The production lead time was shortened drastically and productivity improved by 30%, resulting in the recovery of business performance. The radical reduction of in-process inventory allowed us to locate problems in the production sites.
The director(s) in charge of production in those days. I learned the nuts and bolts of production management from various perspectives through timly advice and close support and encouragement, which maintained my motivation.
