Presidential praise for the Palermo Port Society

Article - October 28, 2011
President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon has lauded the efforts made by the directors at the Palermo Port Society, a subsidiary of the Coremar Group, for their performance over the past year to ensure the port’s smooth operation
Before leaving Colombia to address the 66th UN General Assembly in New York on September 21, 2011, President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon visited the Palermo Port Society and praised the management at the northern Colombian port for their industriousness and efficiency over the past 12 months.

“Directors of the Palermo Port Society told me of the performance and hard work at the port this year. They had planned to move 750,000 tons in 2011 and the projection is that they will end up moving a 1,200,000 tons, which gives us an indication of economic activity that is taking place in this country, at this port and within the Colombian economy,” said the President. “We can multiply this if we build super ports like this, if we built a great infrastructure, and if we keep working as you have been working here in this port.”

The Palermo Port Society is a subsidiary of the Coremar Group, which was founded in 1958 to provide the maritime and port infrastructure and services that Colombia demands. It has taken the lead in supplying logistical support within Latin-American countries through its five main divisions: harbor tugs, offshore vessels, maritime transportation, fuel distribution, and port and terminal operations.

The Palermo Port Society is a new multipurpose terminal located on the Magdalena River, on the north coast of Colombia. It has become a highly competitive option for Colombia’s trade with a broad portfolio of quality services and competitive prices thanks to its advantageous geographic location. It offers importers and exporters state-of-the-art infrastructure and capacious storage facilities. It also has a business hub where highly qualified and experienced personnel are willing to offer a one-on-one service 24/7.

As a result, the Palermo Port Society has become the premier choice for domestic and international trade, as it not only connects Colombia with the world but also provides access to Colombia’s main highways and river channels that connect the coast with the inland.
