Makkah benefits from Alwan’s quality environmental care

Article - September 16, 2011
Integrated environmental services form the core business of Alwan Trading Company Ltd. Over the past three decades, the company has been meeting the environmental challenges thrown up by the kingdom’s hectic urbanisation.
Believing the nation’s beautification could not be fully attained without cleanliness, Alwan Trading Company set out to provide a range of agricultural, cleaning, construction and waste management services in a kingdom with cities that enjoy “the optimum blend of nature and modernisation, enriched by the best urban and environmental services”.

Initially providing agricultural services, which included cultivation, irrigation, landscaping and plant maintenance, the business has grown intensively to now include trading, contracting, operation and maintenance, urban cleaning, flower shops and organising events.

“Our business is an integral part of our world. Accordingly, we are keen to cultivate, construct, maintain the beauty, cleanness and hygiene of our environment; [we are] proud of our credibility and to fulfill our commitments in line with our deep-rooted heritage and customs,” says Ibraheem Ali Amir Alwan, chairman of the board of Alwan Trading Company.

Using the latest technologies and its highly experienced, qualified staff, the company runs a score of major projects. In March, its general cleaning contract for the holy city of Makkah began. For the next four to five years, the company’s large fleet of world-class vehicles will ensure the cleanliness of an area of high religious and cultural importance.

In September, the company also participated as a golden sponsor in the first Islamic competition for decorating Makkah, which saw 22 countries compete to adorn Makkah and turn the sides of the holy city into an Islamic Art Museum by elite group of creative artists. Furthermore, the company’s environmental concern led to its participation in this year’s Meteorological and Earth International Day in April.

“Despite these achievements and high ranking, our ever-standing goal is the continuous enhancement of our business and the commitment to provide unparallel services to our country and valued clients with the highest standards,” says the chairman. “Today, after 35 years of forerunning, excellence and trust, we are proud of our growth. We vow to work together for incessant pursuit of sophistication and excellence.”
