Diamond Security Corps

Article - September 29, 2011
One measure the govern-ment took in 2004 to fight illegal diamond trafficking was to set up the Diamond Security Corps, or CSD.
The agency oversees the security of the whole chain of the diamond-producing industry, from mines to trading houses and through the export process.

The CSD’s goals are to ensure the legal production of diamonds, preserve Angola’s natural riches and make sure mining operations respect human rights and take good care of workers. The CSD operates autonomously from other governmental security bodies, but also works closely with the National Police and Customs.
