Western Cape - A world class business destination

Article - October 2, 2014
Cutting red tape; making it easier, cheaper and faster to do business in the Western Cape.
Western Cape has established the Business Helpline to resolve general business-related inquiries, such as access to finance and tender information, as well as general red tape-related blockages like stalled or delayed EIA applications, business registrations, permits and rezoning applications.

A Red Tape Reduction Transversal Workgroup (RTRTWG) has been established, which comprises representatives from provincial government’s economic cluster departments of Agriculture, Transport and Public Works, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, the Provincial Treasury and the Department of the Premier, the City of Cape Town, SALGA and Business Western Cape. Recently, some of the rural municipalities have been attending the discussions. The purpose of the RTRTWG is to drive initiatives across departments and municipalities that address bottlenecks and blockages to business caused by red tape and administrative burdens. The RTRTWG considers and prioritizes the investigation of transversal issues such as regulations affecting business or sectors within business.
