A sense of confidence and your business in good hands

Article - November 13, 2014

Uganda’s position as one of East Africa’s most influential economies is bringing in not just investment but a wide range of business people working across the country’s various industrial sectors.

THE SHERATON IS CLOSE TO KAMPALA’S CBD

Providing business-friendly solutions to these visitors has become a key aspect of the country’s continuing economic growth and has been a core focus for Sheraton Kampala, enabling deals to be agreed upon within a comfortable and private environment.

General Manager Ian Duncan leads operations at the hotel, which has been recently renovated to provide an all-encompassing service to business people in the region. Owned and operated by Dubai-based Constellation Hospitality and, lying just 45 minutes from Entebbe International Airport, the hotel has established itself as one of Uganda’s most popular business hotels.

“This is very much a business hotel,” explains Mr Duncan. “We give people confidence that their business is in good hands and we have a global connection with the 420 Sheraton hotels around the world.”

It is this sort of global outlook that helped to persuade the Ugandan Olympic Committee to choose the Sheraton Kampala as their main hotel, providing a base for the group to bring officials from all over the world.

Providing nine meeting rooms and more than 200 guestrooms, including a presidential suite and the club lounge, the hotel also boasts three restaurants, a swimming pool and a world-class fitness centre.

Mr Duncan is keen to see the city develop its international outlook further and believes plans to develop Kampala into a major convention centre for the region would be welcomed by the business community. The hotel, positioned close to the central business district, would also benefit from such development. According to Mr Duncan it is well placed to expand operations for Uganda’s expanding business clientele.

“People want to go to a recognised global brand because they feel safe and we make sure we give them that assurance, with quality service,” he says. “We ensure they have all the facilities and comfort they are looking for. They come back repeatedly because we deliver.”
