From South Korea to the world, GnBS Eco's mission advances carbon neutrality in semiconductors and solar industries through cutting-edge green innovations and strategic global partnerships.
As the world accelerates toward net-zero emissions, GnBS Eco has emerged as a leader, transforming environmental challenges into opportunities in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.
With the global push intensifying after the recent COP29 summit, industries are under immense pressure to reduce their environmental footprint. The semiconductor industry, while continually aiming to advance technology, is highly resource-intensive, consuming vast amounts of water, electricity and raw materials – leading to significant greenhouse gas emissions.
Founded in 2005 as Newprotech Co., Ltd. and rebranded in 2023 as GnBS Eco, the company has evolved into a specialized manufacturer of harmful gas management systems. Under CEO Sang Soon Park, GnBS Eco produces scrubbers, De-NOx systems and powder traps, significantly enhancing the carbon neutrality of semiconductor and solar panel factories.

"One of our proudest achievements is that, eight years ago, we became the first company in the world to develop a water-free scrubber," says Mr. Park. Recognizing the immense potential of this innovation, the company went public.
The water-free scrubber technology addresses a critical challenge: excessive water use and wastewater generation in semiconductor manufacturing. By eliminating water usage in the scrubbing process, GnBS Eco reduces costs and carbon emissions for clients.
"Our competitive advantage lies in how we handle byproducts generated during the manufacturing process, particularly those from the scrubbers," the CEO explains."
As the semiconductor industry continues to expand—driven by advancements in AI, power semiconductors, and automotive applications—concerns about water consumption and wastewater treatment at new fabrication facilities will inevitably emerge. In this context, the introduction of water-free scrubbers perfectly aligns with current industry trends. These innovations support sustainable growth, contribute to a healthier industrial ecosystem, and are poised to evolve in tandem with the industry.
GnBS Eco has also developed large-capacity plasma scrubbers and has over 10 years of operational experience.
“This gives us an edge in the solar cell market." As the photovoltaic industry grows, especially with investments in China and India, GnBS Eco's solutions are not only timely but impactful.
Manufacturing line
China dominates the photovoltaic market through investment and government support, though overproduction has caused fluctuations. India is emerging as a key player. "We’ve already entered the Indian market, where we hold almost 100 percent market share," says Mr. Park, noting: "The manufacturing capacity for solar panels in India far exceeds that for cells." With India's solar panel capacity expected to reach 100 GW by 2030, GnBS Eco is poised for growth.
"What truly sets us apart is our gas abatement focus on plasma technology. We have 15 years of deep expertise in this field," the CEO continues. While competitors invested in traditional burn-type scrubbers, GnBS Eco prioritized plasma development early, recognizing its superior efficiency and environmental benefits. Beyond scrubbers, Mr. Park sees GnBS Eco as the complete package. "We view ourselves as a total solution provider, covering the entire line of eco-friendly technologies." The company offers De-NOx systems and plasma white smoke removers, reducing harmful emissions.
Looking ahead, GnBS Eco is expanding its global presence with partnerships in Japan, Taiwan, India, the U.S., Singapore and Malaysia.
With the global push for net-zero emissions and concerns over water scarcity, GnBS Eco anticipates a bullish future for its technologies, and the CEO has a clear vision. "I would like to see our company grow even more. In five years, my dream is for executives and staff members to take the company to the next level. That’s the legacy I want to leave."
As industries grapple with the complex challenges of climate change, GnBS Eco stands at the forefront. Their leadership, driven by continuous innovation, is contributing to a greener future for all.
