Article - October 5, 2016

At its premises in Ebisu Garden Place Tower, DMM.Africa will welcome Startup Weekend and up to 60 young entrepreneurs around pitches and a cocktail reception on Friday, followed by working sessions throughout the weekend.

DMM.Africa and Startup Weekend Tokyo will be honored to invite highly regarded Africa-savvy judges who are abundant in expertise and knowledge that are specific to operating businesses in Africa. Positive and notable mentors are also being invited to help and refine participants’ ideas and pitches.

This event is in line with DMM.Africa’s intentions to foster young African talent and training, change business between Japan and Africa, promote innovation, and build new business connections. About Startup Weekend

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can put their startup ideas through a viability test.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their A-game and their best ideas. They inspire and welcome each other to join their team. And over the course of the days on Saturday and Sunday, teams focus on product development, validating their ideas, and practicing their LEAN and agile methodologies while building and testing their MVP (minimal viable product). Finally, on Sunday evening, teams demo their prototypes and receive feedback from a panel of experts.
