Pamaskong Handog 2010

PAGCOR hosts 12 Days of Christmas for the less fortunate
While PAGCOR makes ongoing contributions to society and communities, its star of generosity truly shines at Christmastime. The corporation’s annual 12 Days of Christmas gift-giving project happened in the second week of December.

Called Pamaskong Handog, the project gave hope to orphans, abandoned children, the elderly, the sick, the disabled and other less fortunate sectors around Metro Manila and the provinces.

“This is our way of sharing PAGCOR’s blessings to the less privileged while highlighting the corporation’s role as a compassionate, caring institution,” explains chairman and CEO Cristino L. Naguiat, Jr.

Gifts ranged from toys, clothes and candies (presented by Santa Claus “in person”) for children to practical toiletries, towels and slippers for the elderly. Some sick children, such as those suffering from hydrocephalus at the Hydrocephalus Foundation of the Philippines, received monetary donations to help defray treatment costs.

The centers and institutions also benefited: orphanages received beds and entertainment systems, whereas hospitals were given medicines, hospital beds and medical equipment depending on the needs of the intended beneficiaries. Celebrity guests were also on hand to help provide entertainment and fun.

PAGCOR selected 24 charitable institutions for its 2010 program, while the provincial branches held their own missions the same time the gift-giving was happening in Manila.
