I am currently in charge of local personnel at Somagec. I started at the company as a laborer about five years ago, but through the efforts I have made and my bosses having seen how hard I work, my dedication has been appreciated and I am now at a level where the whole company knows me. I am very proud that after I finished my studies, Somagec was the first company I worked for and I have since changed a lot. For me, the home forms the fundamental foundation in a person’s life. When I started here I had nothing, but now I have a plot of land where I have built a home with my wife and family, and it forms an essential base in my life.
All we ask of the company or the government is that they keep going in the same direction and that they manage competent companies which can help in the development of whole families.

With regard to health and safety, what measures does Somagec take to reduce risk and protect its workers?
Somagec carries out regular safety checks and hands out materials and helmets every six months. We have officers who ensure safety standards. At 6 o’clock, after cleaning up, everyone sits comfortably on the bus and goes directly home. Compared to other companies, where I have seen many workers standing in trucks and have nowhere to sit, we have normal transportation, which is one benefit of the company.
