The Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Traditional Authority (BBKTA) represents the interests of the community and acts in support of Chief Kgosi Nyalala MJ Pilane

The primary objective of the BBKTA is to develop strategies and implement projects aimed at the economic and social development of the region and its people. Education, healthcare, infrastructure, job creation and poverty alleviation have been identified as among the major priorities for the region. The Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela (BBK) is a community of about 350,000 people, in the North West Province of South Africa, and the region is well known for its rich mining, agricultural and tourism resources.
