B20 Turkey: Who is the man at the helm?

Article - May 4, 2015

Mr Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu chairs B20 Turkey

M. RIFAT HISARCIKLIOĞLU

Mr Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu is the President of The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), which is the largest non-profit business organization in Turkey, covering 365 Chambers and Commodity Exchanges and 1.5 million companies. He is the Chairman of Eskihisar Group of Companies that operate in the fields of construction, construction materials, export and import, agriculture, investments, land development, food industry and automotive sector. The married father of three has also been the Chairman of ICC-Turkey (International Chamber of Commerce), since September 2001 and he became the ICC G-20 Advisory Group Member in June 2011.

“While searching for a roadmap for robust growth, it is of the utmost importance to increase cooperation between governments and the business world. That is why we must strengthen the B20, the business wing of G20. In order to accomplish this, more time needs to be spent with the G20, to find the right solutions together. I believe that Turkey’s role as the G20 2015 Chair will be invaluable in this regard.”

“As members of the business world, we don’t have the luxury of dividing countries into G20 and non-G20. Companies in nonG20 countries are still our partners. We trade with them; we form partnerships; therefore, we must also be their voice.”

“We believe that the B20 should be open to anyone who wants to contribute to the interests of the business world. For us, both multinational companies and SMEs, developed and developing countries, are all very important.” M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu
