about this company

Business Description

The CMM Group has three main business units – infrastructure construction, energy and food – which allow us to actively participate in the creation and implementation of the infrastructure required to meet the subsistence, development and well-being needs of the different sectors of society.

Our group is dedicated to meeting the needs of the construction and installation of capital goods of public and private companies; our group is involved from the design, manufacturing and construction stages to the transfer, installation and start-up of production lines.

The development of technologies for the use of waste energy is part of the fields covered by our group in order to generate alternative energy sources; thus aiming to protect, preserve and take care of the environment at all times.

In the food sector we develop hydroponics for producing high volumes of vegetables by investing in construction and by running hi-tech greenhouses with the purpose of contributing towards reaching the country’s food self-sufficiency with the highest quality standards, always making sure that our products are suitable for human consumption.

Background

The 2020 Prospective

Under the Energy Reform (which for the first time allows private oil companies to operate in Mexico, and the first time ever that Mexican oil contracts have been auctioned), the CMM Group – a local producer of capital goods and engaged in the oil & gas business with its subsidiary Consorcio Manufacturero Mexicano – set its sights on the third tender of Ronda 1 in order to implement its ultimate strategic focus in the development of oil and gas production and reserves. The move is part of its Strategic Plan 2015-2020, which sets three main axes of growth in the energy division: upstream, midstream and renewables.

In the area of upstream, CMM is determined to expand its business as field operators and as a natural gas and oil exploration and production company.

Also, in the midstream, it is set to extend its business participation as developers of projects for hydrocarbons transport and storage.

In the area of renewable energy, CMM aims to develop projects of recovery of waste energy and use it for the generation of electricity and heat.

The company’s current CEO, Juan Rogelio Rodríguez Velázquez, aware of a volatile economy, is moving CMM forward into the new Mexican industrial era by building valuable businesses, and contributing to solving global problems by acting locally. Mr Rodríguez was born in Queretaro and grew up splitting his time between school, football, and industrial infrastructure – the family business.

Management

Tenaciousness, honesty and trust

For CEO Juan Rogelio Rodríguez Velázquez, CMM has been as much a way of life as a job and a career. The excitement of doing something on his own is what first drove him to start his own business.

After graduate school, Mr Rodríguez started his own company, providing construction services to private and public companies. After several deals and facing challenging factors, in 2003 he established a commercial group. Over the next five years, he implemented an adequate policy leading CMM into a steered business, clearing most of the external threats and maintaining its profitability.

The successful completion of such policies represented a watershed for CMM, having the management talent and expertise to undertake complex projects, and allowing CMM a major expansion in operations, from industrial infrastructure to the oil and gas industry.

Company Goals & Objectives

Building the future

Just as the economic slowdown created a stark divide in the world economies, and the story of the rebound is one of increasing fragmentation, basic premises such as quality, integrity and work ethic, will navigate CMM through stormy times to safe harbors.

With a culture of enthusiasm, deep knowledge and technical leadership, CMM’s people think of businesses in a different context, where priorities and a sense of urgency are essentials.

Today CMM is a company in motion, prepared and confident that the best days lie ahead.

Industry

Infrastructure construction, energy and food.
