Innovative IBS-UPM advances biotech

IBS-UPM is recognised as one of the six Higher Institution Centres of Excellence (HICoE) in the country
Advancing the frontiers of research and touching lives, the Institute of Bioscience (IBS-UPM) is a premier research centre in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It is synonymous with excellence in innovation and research development, producing not only manpower in the much needed fields of life sciences and biotechnology, but also many new inventions and products.

Powered by scientists of various natural science backgrounds, IBS-UPM focuses on cutting-edge multidisciplinary research in natural products discovery, molecular biomedicine, cancer, vaccines, immunotherapeutics and marine biotech. 

Currently, more than 60 IBS-UPM scientists are working with prestigious universities and agencies around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Harvard and the University of Tokyo to seek new ideas and meaningful innovation.

Five laboratories with 17 research programmes supported by high-calibre scientists, support staff and postgraduate students are bringing to fruition IBS-UPM’s mission to be a leading research centre of global repute.
