Joining Nomura Securities Co., Ltd., Japan’s largest securities company, in 1984 Eiji Kutsukake’s main responsibility was in retail, one of the group’s major components.
Between 2004 and 2007, he served as manager of the Kyoto Branch Office, the largest branch office in Japan.
In 2007, he was assigned as executive officer in charge of marketing and planning, with the task of establishing a strategy to promote marketing and IT for retail with a focus on reinforcing the customer segment to expand the retail securities business and the consulting business for the wealthy and affluent populations.
In 2012, after serving one year as COO of the Nomura Securities Retail Division, Mr Kutsukake took the helm as CEO. It was during this time that he enhanced the Wealth Management (WM) team and integrated the Asia WM team. Taking the initiative in pushing business growth, he worked to expand Capital Nomura Securities (CNS) in Thailand, which Nomura Securities invested in with the aim of expanding its retailing business in Asia.
Under the severe environment after GFC, Mr Kutsukake played a major role in increasing assets under management (AUM) to 100 trillion yen in the Marketing Division.
In July 2015, after one year as Vice-President of Nomura Real Estate Holdings, he was asked to serve as CEO.
