Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. Like most of the population in Uruguay, my grandparents came from Europe, and arrived here in 1930s.
Education
My primary and secondary studies were at a private school in Montevideo, and I went on to a public university where I graduated in economy in 1987.
Experience
Fresh out of university, I went to work at Paycueros in Montevideo, which was a company many youngsters aspired to work for, as it was one of the largest exporters in Uruguay and had a very good reputation.
My first assignments were in the accounting and financial areas, where after a few years I became responsible for the Administration and Finance Department.
In 1995, I was invited to take a new challenge: be part of the Corporate Production Planning, which entailed the handling of the production of all the Sadesa plants. This naturally brought me a lot closer to the actual business of the company, as I was now in constant touch with all our plants, and much more involved and knowledgeable of our customers and their needs.
After a number of years in Planning, came the next turn and opportunity. I was tempted into joining the Corporate Sales and Marketing Department.
This was again something totally different, as now I would be involved with fashion, product, customers, and a lot of traveling, not only to our plants, but naturally around the globe, as Sadesa had customers in all areas of the world.
I was very fortunate to have the support of those who were running the department at the time, and who shared with me all of their knowledge and experience, which helped immensely to shorten the learning curve.
This position initially took me and my family to Argentina, where I worked for five years, and later to China where we moved for three and half years.
I returned to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 2005, from where I carry out my current responsibilities: Corporate Marketing and Sales Director for Sadesa, and President of Paycueros-Uruguay.
