Anchor investment supports JPY 20 billion Tokyo acquisition and accelerates Weave Living’s growth to USD 4 billion assets under management across Asia Pacific

TOKYO, Japan – November 27, 2025 – WEAVE LIVING, Asia-Pacific’s pre-eminent living sector specialist, last week announced the closing of its first domestic investment vehicle, WEAVE LIVING Japan Multi-Family Domestic Vehicle 1 (WLJMFDV 1), with an anchor investment from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG), Japan’s largest financial institution. This investment will serve as the platform for a strengthened relationship between WEAVE LIVING and MUFG that will promote longterm collaboration between the parties, while marking a new phase of development of Weave’s Japan business.
This investment will drive the acquisition of 11 additional properties in prime locations across Tokyo, valued at JPY 20 billion (USD 130 million), expanding Weave’s overall Japan portfolio to JPY 90 billion (USD 600 million) in under three years since market entry. As well as underscoring the company’s accelerating momentum in one of the world’s most attractive residential rental markets, the new collaboration, which comes soon after the announcement of a new USD 450 million venture in South Korea with a leading global institutional investor, takes WEAVE LIVING’s AUM across Asia Pacific to c. USD 4 billion on a fully-invested basis. This latest endorsement from MUFG also showcases WEAVE LIVING’s ability to attract high quality, long-term institutional capital partners in multiple markets.
Furthermore, in a continued expansion of its offerings for Japan, WEAVE LIVING will introduce Weave Base—a new category of traditional multi-family apartments—across Japan, starting with Tokyo. This new line addresses the growing demand from local renters seeking high quality, professionally managed apartments, alongside the unmatched convenience offered by WEAVE LIVING’s digitally enabled leasing and management model. Weave Base joins the brand's established portfolio, which includes the furnished apartment category Weave Place and the luxury home category Weave Residences, which was recently introduced to the Japan market with two Tokyo properties in Roppongi and Azabu. This strategic addition to the brand portfolio underscores WEAVE LIVING's unparalleled commitment to catering to the diverse lifestyles and needs of Japan's most discerning renters.
Hirokazu Miyazaki, Managing Director, Head of Solutions Products Division at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, said, “Through the establishment of this fund, we are delighted to contribute to WEAVE LIVING’s continued growth for both traditional multi-family and long-stay furnished apartments. We greatly value the company’s exceptional operational capabilities and its rapid yet steady expansion within Japan’s residential sector. In Japan’s diversifying rental housing market, WEAVE LIVING’s asset offerings are increasingly well-positioned to meet evolving tenant needs, and we look forward to supporting the company’s further development.”
“Partnering with MUFG, one of Japan’s most respected financial institutions, marks a significant milestone in WEAVE LIVING’s Japanese and Asia Pacific growth strategy,” added Sachin Doshi, Founder and Group CEO of WEAVE LIVING. “Japan is the fastest-growing and poised to become our largest market by AUM. With the recent launch of our second rental housing venture in South Korea and the establishment of this new domestic Japan investment venture, our regional AUM will grow to c.USD 4 billion once fully invested, underscoring the company’s rapid growth across the Asia Pacific region. We are confident this collaboration with MUFG will further accelerate our growth in Japan as we continue to bring new value to the country’s rental housing sector in both the traditional multifamily and long-stay furnished accommodation segments.”
Daisuke Noguchi, Regional Head for WEAVE LIVING Japan, said, “We are thrilled to strengthen our business foundation through this strong partnership with MUFG. Since our Japan debut, Weave has attracted a diverse tenant base. The newly acquired properties will allow us to serve an even broader target market as we continue to scale our rental housing business in Japan.”
