Born in 1947 in Hokkaido, Mr. Manaka grew up in an environment of vast wilderness and gradually formed a philanthropic, big-hearted and generous personality.
Since he began his career in the construction industry, he has had management experience in many different companies starting from a young age.
Rather than sticking to the boardroom, Mr. Manaka has a hands-on approach to management.

Since the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997, he has been aiming to create the number-one heat shield paint in the world which has the unprecedented functionality.
By focusing on heat island measures, which is one of the biggest topics in the world, he discovered the effect of the micro-sized silica with paint.
Paints basically are a mixture of many hazardous substances, which affect the human body, and they can also become one of the factors of the ozone layer destruction of the global environment.

Experience
In the past, when Mr. Manaka was a consultant in the liquor trading industry, the market was quite closed due to the licensing and tax laws.
Liquor licenses were extremely difficult to obtain, however overseas demand later began to rise.
At that time, Mr. Manaka began to push for a new system for liquor licensing to quicken the rate of licensing in order to make the Japanese industry more competitive in the global market.
After 10 years, the liquor industry in Japan is a more agile and attractive market.

Career Lessons
When Mr. Manaka came into management at the former NCK, it had been a cosmetic manufacturer which had a contract with a small-sized commissioning manufacturer.
However, since the cosmetic products were getting popular, due to the fact that the production capacity was over, the defectives went out on the market. The former NCK had to gather all items with the accident.
Since the lesson learnt that he could not stop the accident from happening, Mr. Manaka’s manufacturing sense of safety and security became more extremely essential.
We have only one way to cooperate with business partners with definite responsibilities to solve these kind of quality control matters as a manufacturer, which is not affected by the popularity of the products.
It is since this time that we have increased the quality and precision of the controls, and in order to not repeat the same failures, we have started to get all of the people involved in this manufacturing process, to get them to love the product, believe in it and help each other, with a good faith to prevent any quality issues.

The person Mr. Manaka looks up to is Mr. Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of the TOYOTA group.
He decided, when he was 18: "I have neither money nor education, but I will be useful for society with my own invention", and started the improvement of the weaving machine.
He invented the "Toyota-type wooden human-powered loom" (patented) in 1890, which works flying the shuttle and driving the weft at the same time.
Then he invented the "Toyoda formula wooden power loom", which was Japan's first power loom.
In 1907 with the support of Mitsui Zaibatsu, he founded the Toyoda loom Co., Ltd. (Howa after), then, Toyoda Boshoku Corporation, and Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd.
