What have been the main lessons you have learned in your career and how do you implement them in your management?

As an executive who has managed a diverse multicultural faculty and an equally diverse student body, there are two things I have found essential: First, do not jump to conclusions. Second, you can gradually gather a consensus as the situation improves.

Mentors

Mr. Ryuji Konishi, a former executive board member of The Japan Long-Term Credit Bank, encouraged me to make my debut in the international community of business/management schools. Ever since then, Mr. Konishi has always encouraged me to be internationally proactive. I did not fly for many years because I had claustrophobia; I never could have imagined that I would be able to fly one day. However, Mr. Konishi pushed aggressively for me to face my fears, to which I owe him thanks.
