In 1950 independent organisation with name “Kablo research and development enterprise n.e.” separated from national enterprise Kablo Bratislava. Out of that arose on 1.1.1952 Výskumný ústav káblov a izolantov Bratislava (VÚKI). It was an independent organizational unit served as central research and development workplace of Czechoslovak cable industry.
In close cooperation with SVŠT Bratislava institute addressed itself also to scientific education of employees. In 1953 VÚKI got status of educational workplace for areas Electro technology and Technology of macromolecule materials. During its operation educational workplace VÚKI educated forty CSCs, out of which four had vindicated their dissertation thesis and achieved title doctor of technical sciences.
The most important organisational transformation underwent VÚKI after 1990. Výskumný ústav káblov a izolantov had been gradually transformed into entrepreneurial subject – stock company VUKI a.s., which originated in 1992 based on law 92/1991 Zb. Official corporate domicile was building on Továrenská 14 in Bratislava, although some operations had been gradually moved to Rybničná street in Vajnory.
During sixty years existence of organisation number of executed research tasks has been gradually increased up to present status, when present VUKI a.s. uses extensive know-how of our predecessor
- in engineering production with high added value
- in permanent innovation of own products
- by solution of external scientific-technical projects.
After 1992 underwent VUKI a.s. through process of internal transformation to subject, which builds its own entrepreneurial activities on high technical ability and on its own know-how.
Basic activity of VUKI a.s. is nowadays specialized production of cables and their accessories, impregnating resins, casting materials and winding wires.
Inseparable part is also with these activities connected research development, testing and involvement in national and international standardization.
Nowadays the company employs 80 employees, most of which have long-term experience also in R&D area for electrical engineering industry. Solution teams dispose of necessary appliance and technical facilities, also of necessary HW and SW. Since 1998 VUKI a.s. is holder of ISO 9001 certificate, since 2003 is holder of ISO 9001:2001 certificate, and since 20120 is holder of ISO 14001:2005 certificate.
In 2001 VUKI a.s. took in periodic organisation and workplace of R&D assessment in terms of procedure approved by Slovak government decree 557/1999 and by statement of Slovak Ministry of economy it achieved certificate with positive assessment throughout the scope of activity.
Since 2006 official corporate domicile are new buildings at Rybničná 38.
