Organization Description

Wholly owned by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the investment arm of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) was established in 2008 to manage and operate the Bahrain International Airport (BIA), acquiring this responsibility in March 2010. Through the provision of world-class facilities, and operational and commercial excellence, BAC has been attracting and supporting airlines, and delivering high quality passenger and cargo services, with a clear vision towards sustaining and building the BIA’s position as an attractive hub for airlines and passengers alike. By creating a meticulous long-term strategy for the Kingdom, BAC is spearheading the BIA towards a future where Bahrain is fully connected to the rest of the world.

BAC's core objectives are to elevate the role of the BIA as a contributor to the economy and further enhance the airport's infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of all stakeholders and users of the airport. BAC also optimizes the airport's revenue streams by diversifying its business through both aeronautical and non-aeronautical activities.

BAC operates as a commercial entity with transparency and a commitment towards building on the airport's status as a major international aviation hub in the region through world-class infrastructure, facilities and services.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has initiated an expansive project to further strengthen its position as an aviation hub and preferred transit point, and BIA's development is part of Bahrain's strategic economic development plan for its Economic Vision 2030. The project focuses on providing high quality infrastructure, capable of handling an expanded network, and strengthening financial performance, to position the airport as a key contributor to GDP and promote aviation as a one of the major economic sectors in the Kingdom.

At the operational level, the company is continuously working on improving operations, building extra capacity, and providing state-of-the-art technologies and international best practice, all geared towards maximizing clients’ and operators’ efficiency and passengers’ travelling experiences. This includes boosting passenger, aircraft and cargo capacities and services.

Additional facilities for airline operators and passengers, a focus on more commercial activities, and amenities to provide maximum convenience, all add to the revenue generating capabilities of the BIA as a sustainable world class aviation hub
