Pronobis, at the forefront of the sector

The real estate company heads projects of the highest quality throughout Ecuador: Ciudad del Río in Guayaquil, Ciudad del Sol in Machala, and Ciudad del Mar in Manta

Established 14 years ago in Guayaquil, Pronobis has become the leader of its sector, adept at operating in various market segments all over Ecuador, especially in projects of great magnitude and quality. The company has particularly stood out for its contribution of know-how and investment in each phase of Guayaquil’s urban development, including hotel infrastructure (Sheraton, Howard Johnson and Sonesta to date, and coming soon, the Wyndham), hospitals (Omni Hospital), shopping centers (The Mall del Sol), offices and residential, among other segments. 
 
“Last year, we carried out the three-year strategic plan 2012-2014, whose mission is to optimize capacities and the firm’s operational model so as to place Pronobis among the most efficient and innovative real estate companies in Ecuador,” says CEO Sergio R Torassa. “Investments are forecast to rise to several hundred million dollars.”
 
Among the company’s strategic objectives, Torassa highlights internationalization. “In this regard, we are analyzing various collaboration initiatives for specific projects, joint ventures with partners in select countries, etc. Nevertheless, this is still an open issue.”
 
For Pronobis’ CEO, it is difficult choosing among the numerous opportunities Ecuador’s real estate sector offers, but he points out that “in first homes, within the mega-project Ciudad del Rio, there are four Bellini Luxury Apartments that truly stand out. They will have 500 suites, a private club, and views of the Guayas River. For second residences, we are in the launching phase of the Golden Beach Lagoon & Golf project, which boasts a crystal clear lagoon and is located 90 kilometers from Guayaquil. It is a paradise of idyllic living, surrounded by white-sand beaches, palm trees and wharfs. These conditions, coupled with Ecuador’s natural wonders, make the project highly desirable – not only on the national real estate market but internationally as well – as a destination for retired people or for those who can telecommute.”
 
Torassa is well aware of the appeal Guayaquil holds for foreign investors, including his area, which has “been integrally developed since the 1990s” and is “the most populous city in Ecuador, with nearly 3 million inhabitants.” He adds that Guayaquil is home to “37% of the 1,000 most important companies in the country, and if we extend that to the 36,000 most important firms in operation, the percentage rises to 39.” Moreover, “the majority of products for export pass through the port in our city to arrive at their final destinations.” 
 
He continues, saying: “In Ecuador, the Spanish professional is highly valued” and that “there is a strong demand in the areas of infrastructure, technology and telecommunications – precisely some of the sectors where the knowledge and experience of Spanish companies are noteworthy.”
