Expanding beyond automotive components into robotics, defense and advanced air mobility (AAM), Samhyun is entering the most significant strategic turning point since its founding.

By Quentin Lange
Founded in 1988, Samhyun has grown from a motor-technology specialist into one of Korea’s leading motion-control companies. Its core competitive advantage lies in its “3-in-1 Integrated Solution,” which combines motors, controllers and reducers into a single system, a foundational technology enabling the company’s expansion into high-value industries such as robotics, defense and AAM (Advanced Air Mobility).
As global industries rapidly shift toward electrification, unmanned systems and intelligent automation, this year marks a structural turning point for Samhyun. The company is no longer simply a manufacturer of individual components; it is transforming into a developer and supplier of integrated modules and platform technologies, creating synergy across its entire business portfolio.

President Ki Won Park of Samhyun
To strengthen technological self-reliance, Samhyun has expanded its R&D workforce to over 40 percent of total employees and acquired CASELAB, an AI and robotics software company, enhancing its software capabilities on top of its hardware foundation. Leveraging these combined strengths, the company is developing next-generation robotic modules, including heavy-duty autonomous mobile robots (HAMR) and humanoid robot joint modules, entirely with in-house technology.
In particular, HAMR has emerged as a next-generation industrial robot platform, capable of high-speed operation up to 20 km/h, transporting loads between 3 and 10 tons, and navigating both indoor and outdoor environments. Building on this momentum, Samhyun plans to showcase its robotic technologies, including HAMR, on the global stage at CES 2026.
In addition, Samhyun has launched “HOPLON,” an open-architecture-based platform for robots and unmanned vehicles, expanding its business scope into industrial, disaster-response and logistics robotics.
In the AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) sector, the company is strengthening its next-generation electrification business by collaborating with global partners to develop electric propulsion units (EPU).
At the same time, Samhyun is advancing infrastructure investments to strengthen its global supply-chain capabilities, including establishing manufacturing bases in India and China and upgrading its smart-factory systems.
President Ki Won Park stated, “Samhyun will evolve into a global platform company built on our new strategic growth pillars: robotics and AAM.”
