Marching down the nuclear road
The Angolan Government is planning to utilise national uranium deposits to develop a nuclear energy industry. Although this potential source of electricity is still in its planning phase, discussions have been held with the Chinese Government regarding training and the construction of a nuclear plant.

The Kwanza Basin

The rich hydrographic resources of the Kwanza River Basin could eventually power seven dams and generate up to to 6,000 MW of power. This is enough electricity to meet the country’s future needs and to export to neighbouring countries.

Capanda finally sees the light

Capanda is the first success story of the large-scale Kwanza River project. The hydroelectric plant could not be completed during the war but today its 520 MW are serving the country’s national grid.
