JL Consulting's prime business hotel

Article - November 2, 2012
Plaza Suites Mexico City offers business travellers and holiday-makers alike top-notch accommodations in the nation's capital
JAIME LEVY, DIRECTOR OF PLAZA SUITES AND CEO OF JL CONSULTING
Despite being relatively new on the Mexican hotel scene, both Plaza Suites Mexico City and the operating and consulting company behind it, JL Consulting, have gained excellent levels of acceptation within the sector.

Plaza Suites Mexico City was opened in May 2010, less than one year after JL Consulting was formed to advise and consult the hotel sector. Businessman Jaime Levy is the Director of Plaza Suites and the CEO of JL Consulting.

Mexico has 12 hotels across the country belonging to the Plaza Suites group, and JL Consulting and the construction company that builds the projects and manages the investments, ML Desarrollos Hoteleros, plan further expansion. Apart from Mexico DF, the hotels are located in León, Guadalajara, Celaya, Irapuato, Salamanca, Silao, Guanajuato and Aguascalientes.

The Mexico City site is actually a high-level business visitor hotel. Its 29 suites have up to three fully-equipped rooms each in two towers, both with three floors. Apart from having splendid views of the central Paseo de la Reforma, the hotel is next to the capital city’s famous Christopher Columbus monument. The Paseo de la Reforma is in Mexico DF’s touristic, financial, commercial and artistic centre.

The Plaza Suites’ extensive installations, which in addition boast eco-friendly technology, include a business centre for 15 people, a film theatre, a games room for adults, open-air pavement cafes and gardens, a gymnasium, a spa with massage cabins, a Jacuzzi for eight people, a children’s play area, an events hall for 250 people, and a 25-metre swimming pool. Among other services that the hotel offers is one called ‘good neighbour’ to accommodate the guests’ purchase capacity, interest in international news, and so on.

All the Plaza Suites hotels have been designed and strategically located to offer maximum service and quality to business travellers in industrial and financial zones in central-western Mexico. Because an estimated 50 per cent of guests are Mexican businessmen, the Mexico City hotel has a contemporary Mexican design and style.

JL Consulting says the hotel offers excellent cuisine and a perfect option for business meetings. The operator stresses that this means the hotel chain is a wonderful investment alternative in the hospitality sector. It adds that the company’s speciality is business tourism, as the hotel offers access services to the best tourist sites in central Mexico.

Mr Levy says, “We revise all the processes through which a guest passes, so as to know in which areas the hotel is failing and in which we can make improvements.”

Another service offered by JL Consulting is called ‘mystery shopper’, designed to improve its hotels’ services and installations. The service involves making a surprise visit to the hotel, where some 1,200 points are revised. For example, conversations are recorded when reservations are made, and when hotel room services are requested.

Mr Levy says “the principal idea behind JL Consulting is to have a team of real experts, who either externally or via outsourcing work with me, and share their knowledge on hotel doorkeepers, housekeepers, food and drink, spa operations, and so on. I give training to each of my clients, together with the expert in each area, so as not to lose the essence of the company, which is personalised attention and the solution to each one of their problems.”
