Azmar Airlines, aviation service providers

Article - October 5, 2012
The company has found a niche in the Iraqi aviation market in only five years and is looking to develop further
AZMAR AIRLINE
Life hasn’t being easy for Azmar Airline, the only Kurdish aviation company that operates in Iraq. But it has gained an interesting market position thanks to the region’s unique role as a gateway to Iraq.

“Kurdistan is the destination for anyone who wants to work in, or come to Iraq for business or tourism,” explains Baker Saeed Taufiq, General Manager (GM) of Azmar Airline.

The company has advantages over competitors for numerous  reasons.  “We are the only aviation company that can offer ground-handling services in airports in Iraq. We have an IATA license and top certifications in the aviation business. Our staff have been trained and they are professional staff, holding qualified degrees in their areas. For example, the ground handling services for a real airport are handled by DANATA, the UAE company. We are managing Sulaymaniyah Airport. We are also looking at Baghdad Airport and apparently we will win the bid because we do not have competitors,” says Mr. Taufiq.

The target for the next five years is to become the number one aviation company in its territory, but this will be difficult. “Baghdad is really stopping us from accomplishing that ambition because of the severe rules and regulations,” explains Mr. Taufiq.

However, this will not deter the company from trying to overcome any obstacle placed in front of them.
