Article - October 27, 2011
President Khama´s strategic plan for his country, Vision 2016, is based on seven key points. Here he discusses how they will be implemented
IAN KHAMA, PRESIDENT OF BOTSWANA
Paramount Chief of the Bamangwato tribe (the largest in Botswana). He is the first born son of Sir Seretse Khama (the country’s foremost independence leader who was President from 1966 to 1980) and Lady Khama (his British wife).

After serving as Commander of the Botswana Defence Force, he entered politics and served as Vice-President of Botswana from 1998 to 2008, then succeeded Festus Mogae as president in 2008.

In a bid to drive his country forward, and with the 50th Anniversary of Independence approaching, President Khama and his administration have launched Vision 2016. President Khama speaks about the challenges and opportunities facing his country.
