The perfect partner for Starwood Hotels

Article - January 11, 2013
In 2012, high-end hotel company Starwood Hotels and Resorts decided to return to Iraq after a nearly 20-year absence due to the Gulf War - and they chose Ranj Company as their local partner
On signing their first-ever hotel development, Faxir Maraan, Chairman of Ranj Group, commented: “We are excited to work with Starwood to build our first hotel here in Iraq. This is a milestone for us and we feel a globally recognised hotel operator like Starwood is the perfect partner in making our first steps in the hospitality industry. Four Points by Sheraton has a strong reputation globally and this hotel will be a great addition to the city of Erbil.”

The new Four Points by Sheraton Erbil Hotel has a construction cost of $50 million. It will boast 250 well-appointed guest rooms – which will include the brand’s signature elements, including the Four Comfort Bed – as well as extensive dining, conference and leisure facilities. Complimentary WiFi access will be available in public areas.

Conveniently located just five minutes from Erbil International Airport, the Four Points by Sheraton Erbil Hotel is also situated along the new ring road, thus affording easy access to the city and its monuments and attractions, such as the historic Citadel and Sami Abdul Rahman Park.

The Starwood Corporation has more than 50 hotels throughout the Middle East and is on its way to opening 30 more in the next few years. Under the Four Points by Sheraton brand, it already has six hotels in the region and will soon open four new ones.
