Experience
・Joined Japanese National Railways (JNR) in 1970 and assigned to JR East in 1987 upon JNR’s division and privatization.
・Has held several prominent positions in JR East, primarily in charge of administrative affairs such as human resources and finance.
Member of the board as Director of the Personnel Dept. from 1994, Executive Director and CFO from 2000, and Executive Vice-President responsible for the Corporate Planning Headquarters from 2002.
・Became Chairman of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) from April, 2012 after being President and CEO for 6 years.
・Besides JR East, has served as chairman of the Tohoku Tourism Promotion Organization, and through this work promotes the charm of Tohoku both at home and abroad and is deeply committed to finding ways to contribute to Tohoku’s economy through tourism.
