On February 1, 2011, assume the presidency of Bancolombia and since then he has led the process of transforming the financial institution through a more human Banking. Since he assumed the presidency has received several recognitions as: La República newspaper, which selected him as the entrepreneur of 2012; Semana magazine, which named him as one of the best business leaders in Colombia in 2013; America Economía magazine, named as a transformational leader because of the human banking model in 2014; and the Merco reputation survey recognize him as the leader with the best reputation in Colombia in 2014.
Besides on 2011 the Shared responsibility program, which is conformed by UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and the DNE (National Narcotics office) with the support of the US embassy in Colombia named him as ambassador of the environment.
Education
He earned his degree in Law from the Pontificia Bolivariana University in Medellin and postgrad degree in Business Law from the Externado de Colombia University in Bogotá. His educational background also includes specialized courses at the University of Delaware, The Kellogg School of Management, IESE and Yale School of Management, in the United States of America.
Experience
He started his professional career at UNIBAN - Unión de Bananeros de Urabá, as Director of the Law Department. In 1994 he joined the Banco Industrial Colombiano - BIC, where he served as Law Director and Auditing Vice-President. He was an active part of the team that led the placement BIC’s shares on the New York Stock Exchange in 1995, as well as the purchase of Banco de Colombia in 1998, which led to what today is Bancolombia.
In 2003 he left Bancolombia to assume the Vice-Presidency of Corporate Affairs at the company Cementos Argos, although continued to be linked to Bancolombia as a member of the Director Board. On February 1, 2011, Mr. Yepes returned to Bancolombia, appointed as President of the Group, a position he currently holds and from which he has led the process of transforming the financial institution to embrace the challenge of becoming a profitable, and people oriented institution.

Today Carlos Raúl Yepes is part of different corporate Boards as: National Association of Colombian Entrepreneurs - ANDI, ANI Foundation, Asobancaria, ANIF, the Advisory Council of the National Department for Prosperity, and Ximena Rico Llano Foundation.
What have been the main lessons you have learned in your career and how do you implement them in your management?
Humility, hard work, responsibility and respect for the others have to be a fundamental part of the life plan and the career of any person and this are fundamental success factors in this path. The human banking and our strategic vision reflects each one of this attributes of any successful human being. Through the human banking we have permeated our entire organization and our clients, this to make of Bancolombia not only be a financial actor of the society but also an actor of social transformation.
