Organization Description
Almost 130 years have passed since our founding as a pioneer in private-sector science education. Today, TUS is Japan's largest comprehensive science and technology university that has 8 undergraduate schools, 11 graduate schools and twenty thousand students. During this period, the University has produced numerous graduates who have supported Japanese scientific and technological advancement.
Background
The Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo (Tokyo Academy of Physics), the forerunner of the Tokyo University of Science, was founded in 1881. The Academy was the brainchild of 21 young scientists who had just graduated from the Department of Physics at the University of Tokyo (then the Imperial University). Two years later, the academy was renamed the Tokyo Butsuri Gakko (Tokyo College of Science). In 1949, The Tokyo Butsuri Gakko becomes the Tokyo University of Science as a result of education system reforms.
Location
TUS has 4 campuses(Kagurazaka, Katsushika, Noda, Oshamambe).
Tokyo is a huge metropolitan center known for its many international conferences, and the Kagurazaka area of Shinjuku is located in the heart of this great city.
This has always been a bustling shopping and entertainment district, while just a street away there are rows of cherry trees lining the moat of the Imperial Palace, also making this a quiet area rich with historical charm.

The president of TUS is Akira Fujishima.
The chairman of the board of directors of TUS Foundation is Shigeru “Sam” Nakane.
