CMH is regulated by the laws applicable to commercial enterprises and by its Articles of Constitution, and is subject specifically to the legislation governing the oil industry (namely Decree 3/2001 of 21 February – the law governing oil exploration and Decree 24/2004, of 30 June establishing the Regulation of Oil Operations) and to the Contract of Oil Production (CPP) celebrated between the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), Sasol Petroleum Temane (SPT), Companhia Moçambicana de Hidrocarbonetos (CMH) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), in terms of which the State grants the right to the said institutions (SPT, CMH, and IFC) to develop, explore and sell the oil products in the Oil Production Zone (APP).
