Malta Enterprise is your one-stop shop for investing and doing business in Malta. Our mission is directed towards seeking potential investors while encouraging existing ones to grow and internationalize their business out of Malta.
Malta is a place an investor can trust. Foreign direct investment has been welcomed in Malta at least for the past 50 years. What is more important is that the people who came in the very beginning are still here and they are important players in the islands’ economy.
Due to the island’s geo-strategic location, we also work hard to establish Malta as a trading hub either for extra-EU companies to gain foothold into Europe or for European countries to establish a near-shoring hub for business in North Africa and the Near East.
Background
Malta Enterprise is the country’s economic development agency, tasked with attracting new foreign direct investment as well as facilitating the growth of existing operations. In operation under various guises since the 1950s, which is almost since the beginning of Malta’s industrial development, the Corporation contains within it a great deal of accumulated experience in the field.
Furthermore, it acts as an adviser to the government on economic policy due to its close and constant interaction with the main economic players in the country. It is the driving force behind the creation of IFDIS, the Institute of Foreign Direct Investment Studies, an institution that offers research and training for FDI management to stakeholders involved in the development of FDI attraction and retention strategies.
Malta Enterprise is also the national contact point for the Enterprise Europe Network, through which companies based in Malta can develop links with counterparts in over 60 other countries.
The long-term presence of an investor in the country is a priority for Malta Enterprise. We therefore work constantly with our clients to find solutions to any issues they may be facing and to help them adapt to changing circumstances. This has resulted in symbiotic relationships being maintained for decades, for the benefit of all concerned.
The Corporation also works hand-in-hand with Maltese enterprises to help them set-up, consolidate, grow, innovate and access global markets.
Industry
In recent years, Malta has demonstrated both economic resilience as well as an ability to thrive. In fact, the government has developed a clear strategy for sustainable economic development through identifying key sectors with high growth potential and the way in which the government plans to support their consolidation and success. These sectors include, but are not limited to, advanced manufacturing, life sciences (including the biotechnological, pharmaceutical and chemical industries), transport and advanced logistics, tourism, international education services, information and communication technology (including digital games development), financial services and creative industries.

The Malta Enterprise network operates in various countries around the globe, with offices or representations in embassies and consulates in Europe, north and sub-Sahara Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the United States.
