about this company

The Miami Downtown transformation

The Miami Downtown Development Authority is gearing the downtown area up for the arrival of new industries

The Miami Downtown Development Authority, known as the “DDA”, is an autonomous agency of the city of Miami, entrusted with advocating and facilitating plans and executing business development, planning and capital improvements, as well as marketing and communication strategies.

The services the DDA offers includes business recruitment and technical assistance, market research and data collection, sponsorship and partnership building, urban and transportation planning, capital improvement project coordination, PR, and beautification and greening.

In terms of planning for the future of Downtown Miami, a significant and ongoing function of the DDA, the Downtown Miami Master Plan envisions the area as the “Epicenter of the Americas”, a status it is well on its way to achieving, having already been named “The best city to do business in Latin America” by America Economy magazine.

The DDA has recently begun reinvigoration downtown. The authority played a crucial role in doubling the size of housing units in the downtown area from 2000-2010, adding over 23,000 units. Now the authority, under Marc Sarnoff, is playing a key role in attracting new industries such as technology to the downtown area, leveraging on one of only five NAP’s (Network Access Points) worldwide, being located downtown Miami.
