Discount Bank Latin America was founded in 1958 as Discount Bank (Overseas) Limited and changed its name to Latin America Discount Bank in 1977. Central House is located in the Plaza Zabala of the city of Montevideo, also having two branches in the resort of Punta del Este, a branch in Colonia del Sacramento and twelve in various neighborhoods of the capital.

With roots deep in the Uruguayan banking system and recognized as an institution with proven financial strength, Discount Bank Latin America has been noted for having outfitted the security of a traditional banking institution, with investments cautious, safe and without surprises, with the highest technology applied to banking.
