Organization Description
Founded in 1998 by engineer Sisay Desta with an initial capital of 50,000.00 birr (around $2,300) as a Grade 7 contractor, Afro-Tsion Construction Plc today is one of the largest and leading general contractors in Ethiopia.
Afro-Tsion is stationed in its own newly built headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, near St. Gebriel Hospital.
An ISO 9001:2000-certified company, Afro-Tsion Construction Plc has been involved in the construction of most of the nation’s largest university complex buildings and roads, bridges, airfields, various government office complexes, industrial projects, hospitals, stadiums and different private commercial projects throughout the country.
Furthermore, through its sister companies, Afro-Tsion Construction Plc is engaged in real estate development, manufacturing of construction materials, and in import and export businesses.
The management of Afro-Tsion Construction Plc is known for its commitment in financing short-term and long-term training for its employees and in acquiring value-adding technology with the objective of continuously improving its processes and systems.
Other than the various donations, the number of fully equipped schools it has constructed and handed over to the society in remote areas of Ethiopia speaks about its contribution and commitment towards fulfilling its social responsibilities.

The headquarters of the company is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The headquarters is used as a center of resource management and point of leadership for the various projects across the country. Its location and diversified projects have enabled the company to utilize its fixed resources and labor more efficiently via rotating them depending on the weather conditions or seasonal variations across the various parts of the country. Our various plants so strategically located in various areas help to utilize the local resources and help reduce transportation-related costs and efforts.

Leaders and Staff
The company is lead by an innovative and energetic general manager, who also is the owner. The GM (Sisay Desta), a building engineer by training and with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, has worked in various positions (hierarchy) in the execution and management of various construction projects. In this company, teamwork is not only at the project level but also at the top management level. Its qualified and experienced top management members have enabled the company to exercise team leadership and management style. The management believes in continuous training and improvement, thus financing such activities, we believe, is to the best interest of improving our competence and for our competitiveness.
The company has secured well-trained, experienced and motivated engineers of various specializations (civil, mechanical, and electrical) and others in different disciplines such as finance, law and management among others. These employees are the source of strength to our company.
